The possibility that BRICS could become an alternative development partner for Africa raises some intriguing and thought-provoking questions. Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa are part of the BRICS alliance of emerging economies. In addition to the recent BRICS summit in South Africa, six new members were inducted into the extant bloc: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
