The African continent has seen a notable frequency of military coups over the last several decades, often accompanied by promises of stability and effective governance. The occurrence of coups d’état has many sources and outcomes within communities, having both positive and negative effects on the developmental trajectory and social cohesion of distinct African governments.
The Centre for Governance and Intra-Africa Trade Studies (CGIATS) is a dedicated academic hub advancing research and policy solutions to foster effective governance and promote intra-African trade. By uniting African scholars and institutions, CGIATS champions sustainable development, economic integration, and the spirit of Pan-African unity.
